Shadow Priest: Season 11 Talents and Glyphs
by // January 5, 2012
So we meet yet again Skill-Capped members. Today I’m going to be writing about Shadow Priest talents and if there is anything new in the recent 4.3 patch. We have a new season with a fresh reset and the race is on to get gladiator. With the new recent buffs to Mortal Strike, Mind-Numbing Poison, and Widow Venom we are looking at a few potential changes in the spec. I will also be covering some glyph choices and explaining why I chose them over other glyphs. I know there isn’t any hard decisions when picking your glyphs but there are some that could be possible contenders when running certain comps.
Shadow Tree
There really is no huge changes to the talents this patch because they are basically done changing things around because of the new upcoming expansion. However, other class changes and comps have allowed us to move only a few points around from [Improved Mind Blast] to where ever we like. I personally will probably not be speccing into Mortal Strike anymore and I’m going to be putting my points elsewhere when playing with a Rogue. However, if I want to play Shadowplay I will definitely be speccing into [Improved Mind Blast].
When I am not using the [Improved Mind Blast] build I am going to be moving my points into [Paralysis] then [Harnessed Shadows] and the rest into [Pain and Suffering]. I often feel that [Paralysis] is underrated because it is honestly a great crowd control effect and it can help your partner stick onto the current target. Other than that there really is no big changes when it comes to talent spec except for maybe having [Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest] because it may allow you to move one point out of [Twisted Faith] into where ever you want to put it.

Paralysis Spec:
Glyphs
The last thing I will be talking about is glyphs. Nothing too much has changed in the glyph department, your most basic glyphs are probably the ones you are already using but lets give them a quick look:
Prime:
Major:
You are probably already using these because this is the most cookie cutter build. I personally would not change out any of them for anything else unless maybe the [Glyph of Fade] for something else. However, getting rid of this glyph will no longer allow your [Fade] to coincide with your four piece bonus freedom effect. There isn’t too much else to talk about with glyphs so lets wrap this article up.
Conclusion
When it comes to Shadow there isn’t any hard choices to make in terms of talents and glyphs. The only thing I can really tell you is to change out talents and glyphs accordingly to what comp you are running. We won’t be see any changes at all until the 5.0 patch so just don’t expect anything to change. I guess the only choices we have in terms of spec is probably keeping or dropping [Improved Mind Blast]. Anyways have a great season members of Skill-Capped!

This compared to Paralysis seems weak because I've had Paralysis actually win games for me before. I catch a healer in the open with an archangel spike combo, then while he's running to a pillar, the paralysis catches him and keeps him in place long enough for me to finish him with a double death. It's also useful to peel with root and pressure, call out to my healer i'm about to root the melee with a spike combo and they can make sure to run around a corner and heal up. (Not the best peel but it helps). However, these situations are not very common in my matches.
Now I'm thinking that with shadowplay's strategy of overwhelming pressure can really benefit from a 10% healing debuff just because it's even harder to keep up with healing, which will open up more opportunities to burst and kill. What do you think?
