Gearing a Fresh 85: Rogue
by // December 21, 2010Hey everyone, this article will be about how to properly gear the fastest, and the easiest way. This gear is viable enough for you to get started on the honor grind, and lead into arena’s. If you have max honor and a little bit of gold you should be able to get this in a matter of minutes and be ready to PvP.
THE MAIN IDEA…
The whole idea behind it is buying 2 honor pieces so you can get benefit from the 2 piece bonus of 400+ resilience and 70 agility, and then crafting or buying the leather PvP gear. It will be enough so when you go into BG’s or early arenas you will not get completely dominated, and you will be able to put up a fight and contribute to your team winning. You will probably end up between 1000-1500 resilience depending on how much you get. You are going to need to either get a hold of a leather worker or if you have gold buy the items on the Auction House.
THE LEATHER WORKING CRAFTED GEAR:
The materials needed to make the entire set is 80 [Heavy Savage Leather] 20 [Volatile Water] , 20 [Volatile Life] and 40 [Volatile Fire]
WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR HONOR.
You can take this 2 ways. Option #1 being buying [Bloodthirsty Gladiator's Leather Tunic] and [Bloodthirsty Gladiator's Leather Spaulders]. Option #2 being [Bloodthirsty Gladiator's Medallion of Tenacity] and [Bloodthirsty Gladiator's Insignia of Conquest]. I would go with Option #1 if you played previously and already have a PVP trinket. If you are new and you do not have a PVP trinket i would go with option #2 which gives you both trinkets that add up to 602 resilience and then go for the items from Option #1.
WHAT TO DO FOR YOUR DAGGERS
You should be playing mutilate or subelty which would resort to using 2 daggers. There are currently no blue PVP daggers so your only option is to do some heroic dungeons. Your main hand should be [Steelbender's Masterpiece]. It drops off of Karsh Steelbender in Blackrock Caverns. That is currently the best itemized BLUE 1.8 dagger. There is one crafted on from blacksmithing but is it VERY expensive and not worth the gold. For offhand its very simple all you need is 950 justice points and you can buy [Throat Slasher].
WHAT TO DO FOR TRINKETS, RINGS, AND NECKLACE
If you went with Option #1 above you are going to need to get a trinket from a heroic for your second trinket slot along with your old PVP trinket. I would get [Key to the Endless Chamber] from Corborus in Stonecore. It will provide TONS of hit and if needed you can always reforge out of it for another stat.
If you chose Option #2 you already have 2 trinkets and you should not need to worry about trinkets.
For rings i would honor grind for [Bloodthirsty Gladiator's Ring of Cruelty] and [Bloodthirsty Gladiator's Ring of Accuracy]. They are the only blue PVP rings available and requires only 1250 honor.
For your neck the only viable option is [Bloodthirsty Gladiator's Necklace of Prowess] because the other neck has expertise which is not a very great PVP stat.
Enchants
For the blue set of PVP gear i would not use the very expensive enchants because you will replace the gear with the epic gear. I would go for the lesser ones which include
Chest – [Enchant Chest - Mighty Resilience]
Helm – [Arcanum of the Ramkahen] Requires revered from Ramkahen reputation from Uldum.
Shoulders – [Lesser Inscription of Shattered Crystal] Requires revered from Therazane reputation from Deepholme
Gloves – [Enchant Gloves - Haste]
Cloak – [Enchant Cloak - Critical Strike]
Bracers – [Enchant Bracer - Precision]
Legs – [Charscale Leg Armor] I chose this one over the Attack Power / Crit one because the stamina will help you out a lot early on and agility = 2 Attack power per point and gives crit.
Boots – [Enchant Boots - Earthen Vitality] For run speed since the really good enchant requires insane amounts of expensive materials this is the best way to go for the movement speed at a cheap price. If your spec includes quickening then you should use [Enchant Boots - Major Agility]
Belt – [Ebonsteel Belt Buckle]
Main Hand – [Enchant Weapon - Hurricane] The haste is a very nice buff and has a good proc chance
Off Hand – [Pyrium Weapon Chain] Provides the 50% less disarm duration as well as hit rating
NOW THAT YOU KNOW HOW TO GEAR….
Now its time to just honor grind as much as you can and upgrade your boe crafted items 1 at a time. I would first start off trying to get the 4 piece then going for what the biggest upgrade’s are depending on your gear. Just put in the time and you will have the full set of gear quicker then you know. If you have questions about anything feel free to ask. I will try to answer ASAP.
