Holy Paladin PvP Guide | 8.3 BfA Race, Talents, Essences, Traits, Gear and Macros

This guide was produced with:

  • 5+ Rank 1

Best race:

  • Human gives you an additional way to break out of stuns every 3 minutes while also giving you the option of playing with Relentless against comps with lots of crowd control

Alternative race:

  • Dwarf/Dark Iron Dwarf is a decent alternative for removing a shadow priests Silence or a balance druids root + Solar Beam combo

Best race:

  • Tauren is only slightly the best race for the situational benefit of War Stomp and the added stamina from Endurance

Alternative race:

  • Blood Elf is just as viable and allows you to potentially dispel an important magic buff with Arcane Torrent

Crusader’s Might can be taken if you want to deal more damage

Unbreakable Spirit is a better choice against spell cleaves and rogue mage

Repentance can be a great pick in 3s when playing with warlocks, shadow priests and balance druids – it also has great potential in 2s to set up long crowd control chains against paladins, priests and monks

Blinding Light can be taken when playing in set up based comps with frequent access to stuns, such as rogue mage or ret rogue

Avenging Crusader when paired with the Vision of Perfection major essence is strong against dot cleaves in long dampening games as you’re able to heal without spending mana every time Vision procs

  • Vitality Conduit – incredibly strong major essence for all healers that should be used when you need additional healing output or simply an extra defensive cooldown to help your team survive against opposing crowd control chains
  • The Crucible of Flame – your best offensive essence in 2s and occasionally in 3s when playing to end games quickly
  • Vision of Perfection – can be used to increase your overall healing output when you don’t need Vitality Conduit and is most potent when paired with Avenging Crusader to help outheal pressure on your entire team at a low mana cost whenever it procs
  • Conflict and Strife – isn’t used too often but can be considered if you need the additional versatility to help you survive or when you need access to four PvP talents

  1. Strikethrough – great synergy for holy paladins which rely on crits to heal and deal damage
  2. Severe/Versatile – decent picks that increase both your healing and damage
  3. Ineffable Truth – can also be a decent pick if you can stack multiple of these
  4. Gushing Wound – excellent choice to increase your damage for very little corruption

Crit (40%) > Versatility = Haste > Mastery
