Destruction Warlock PvP Guide | 8.2 BfA Race, Talents, Essences, Traits, Gear and Macros

by Mystic // August 22, 2019

This guide was produced with:

  • 10+ Rank 1
  • Finalist of the 2018 AWC Summer finals
  • Competed at the 2018 Blizzcon world championship

Best race:

  • Human is a very strong option for destruction warlocks to help deal with the heavy amounts of crowd control you should expect to receive from opponents attempting to shut down your damage as you’re able to play with Relentless while still having the safety net of Every Man for Himself to break out of stuns when you’re in trouble

Alternative race:

  • Void Elf can have its benefits with a 5% damage boost when Entropic Embrace procs and a short teleport in the form of Spacial Rift which can be great to kite enemies – however the main benefit is the push-back resistance from Preternatural Calm

Best race:

Demonic Circle should be used on Blade’s Edge Arena and Mugambala when facing melee cleaves that can easily be punished whenever you’re able to create distance, for example ret warrior

Roaring Blaze will give you more overall damage if you aren’t able to get casts off during your infernals

  • Nether Ward is perfect against casters or melee with magical kicks (demon hunters and death knights) and can be used both offensively (to immune cc or interrupts and get casts off) or defensively (to avoid spell damage)
  • Fel Fissure is great when playing with a shadow priest as they’re likely to get trained, allowing you to free cast Chaos Bolts which apply a mortal strike effect and a much needed slow which shadow priests lack
  • Cremation is a great pick when you expect to have a very hard time casting Chaos Bolts and pairs well with Roaring Blaze to give you a lot more instant damage

Conflict and Strife

Should be used whenever you expect to be the target as it gives you access to Demon Armor which you always want to have, allowing you to use an additional PvP talent

Vision of Perfection

Much more offensive option and should be used whenever you won’t gain much value out of having a fourth PvP talent and prefer the additional damage to help finish games
