Long awaited destruction buffs in 4.3 patch notes

Lets just hope that at the very least these stick til patch release.

    Warlock
Soul Fire now scales with 72.6% of spell power, up from 62.5%.

    Demonology
Master Demonologist now grants a base bonus of 18.4% and 2.3% per mastery, up from 16% and 2% per mastery.
Impending Doom is now also activated by Soul Fire.

    Destruction
Cataclysm now increases Fire damage by 30%, up from 25%.
Fire and Brimstone now increases the damage of Incinerate and Chaos Bolt on Immolated targets by 5/10/15%, up from 2/4/6%.
Burning Embers now deals damage equal to 25/50% of Soul Fire and Impís Firebolt, up from 15/30%.
Buning Embers damage cap has been raised.
Shadowburn now deals Shadowflame damage, instead of Shadow damage.
Improved Soul Fire now lasts 20 sec, up from 15sec.

Anyone got any thoughts on this?

    Here's mine anyway:
Demonology changes are nice as it technicly makes the spec more viable in arena as you can't use the guardian pets there anyway but not likely to change anything drasticly i.e make the spec much more viable.

I think the way the buffs interact will prove very interesting.
Increased soul fire damage thru the coefficiency buff, cataclysm, improved soul fire and burning embers meaning that it should provide at least a number of thousands of damage inbetween itself, the embers and the lengthened damage increase.

The shadowburn change is nice in multiple ways particularly the effect that it'll be castable while interrupted since it'll be on a different school and i'm thinking that because it's a shadowflame it'll receive damage increase thru cataclysm, mastery etc so it might actually reach 30k+ like spriests death.

The 9% added damage to chaos bolt and 9%+5%(cataclysm) to incinirate will provide a very decent addition to our nuke when we can score some cast time as well as thru instant (backlash) incinirates.

I'm already playing destruction and i don't feel that it's as lacking as everyone thinks and that these changes should be quite fine to push us up to an acceptable level.

The spec will still require more effort then affliction but if you love a spec then you love a spec.

    Destruction for life!

Quoted for truth. One great advantage to destro is that nobody else plays it.. So not many people understand how to counter it. I like the damage buffs, I'm just worried that as it gains more popularity, it'll become less unique/surprising. I love seeing people trinket shadowfurys right off the bat.!

Havn't known any decent fire mages so havn't tried that yet but played destro/elemental and destro/dk a lot which works fine. Guess it would be a nice setup post-patch and probably even workable pre-patch with enough effort.

Yeah, i too love the suprise factor of beeing destruction even a lot gladiator teams that we've fought aren't quite sure how to handle a it but i'm glad that the melee cleaves have their well laid out plan from season 7 laying about (WAARLOOOCK!) not saying that it works but it's still the most common reaction to seeing a destruction warlock.

I like playing destro a lot more than affliction, but I haven't been able to play it with any success with it once I hit about a 2k rating and always switch back to affliction then. Can you guys who are having success with it post some vids so I can see how you are making it work?

I have several variations of my spec that i use depending on what i do:
    3v3 spec
    http://www.wowhead.com/talent#IZfMMZIrbfRMsRbo:zVoqdZ0o

    2v2/bg/wpvp
    http://www.wowhead.com/talent#IZfMMZIrbcRrsRbo:Vzkdqc0o

if you don't like using imp you could do something like this and play with felhunter
    http://www.wowhead.com/talent#IZIMMZIrbfofsR0o:Vz0dq
or this if you prefer succybus
    http://www.wowhead.com/talent#IZhrMZIrbfofsR0o:VzbdqR

Although skipping imp is not a great choice especially so after patch when burning embers and soulfire get buffed further.

Why max out searing pain but not backlash?

Also, wouldnt it be more beneficial to use glyph of chaos bolt over conflag so that your chaos bolt and conflag have the same cd so you can consistently make them hit at the same time?

Yeah sorry ignore that was a simple 5am mistake; i don't even have searing pain on my bars

Updated the 2 specs below accordingly

Regarding the glyph, conflag is your hardest hitting ability so you want it available as often as possible while chaos bolt is barely worth the extra effort in moving your finger from incinirate at the moment.

Will be interesting seeing how this might change after 4.3 hits. Might try going on PTR once they've gotten character-copy working again here in EU.

PS. I don't recommend playing without the imp and ever since i went over from succybus/felhunter specs to imp i've never looked back.
