Shadowmeld is extremely dynamic and offers multiple uses. It can immune incoming projectiles like Mortal Coil and Chaos Bolt, as well as instant abilities like Blind and Kidney Shot. When used, it removes you as the target to prevent attacks. It also removes combat, allowing you to enter Stealth at beneficial times.
Highmountain Tauren is the best race defensively because of increased Versatility and passive damage reduction. The stun can be useful too, but above anything else this race provides the best bulk.
Versatility is your most important stat for PvP. It provides both increased damage and reduced damage taken, essential for survivability as a caster. Haste reduces your cast times and global cooldown, allowing you to pump out more damage and land Cyclones faster. Mastery: Astral Invocation increases your Nature and Arcane damage on targets affected by Moonfire and Sunfire, double dipping with Astral spells. This is why it's important to keep up DoTs. Critical Strike is your lowest priority as it doesn't synergize as well with Balance Druid's toolkit.
