Enhancement Shaman
Enhancement Shaman in MoP is defined by three things: DISRUPTION with Wind Shears, Grounding Totems, and instant Hexes; ASCENDANCE which is one of the BEST offensive cooldowns in the entire game with massive burst and range; and TOTEMS which matter a LOT in MoP with Healing Stream, Healing Tide, and Windwalk providing incredible utility.
Current Meta Position
Strengths
- ✓Ascendance provides incredible burst with massive range on attacks
- ✓Wind Shear is the best interrupt in the game - 12 second cooldown
- ✓Grounding Totem absorbs harmful spells
- ✓Instant Hex with Maelstrom Weapon stacks
- ✓Healing Tide Totem provides massive team healing
- ✓Windwalk Totem gives AoE freedom for the entire team
- ✓Ancestral Guidance converts damage to healing during burst
Weaknesses
- ✗Totems can be sniped by skilled players
- ✗Steep learning curve for totem management
- ✗Damage outside of Ascendance is lower
- ✗Reliant on Maelstrom Weapon procs for instant casts
Key Abilities
Dwarf is marginally the best Alliance option. Since this is the era of 'train the blue', Stoneform is a great defensive. The 10% damage reduction is useful in every matchup, and the Bleed/Poison removal is great against Feral Druids and Rogues.
Orc is definitely your best Horde option. Hardiness is arguably the best racial passive in the game, offering 15% stun reduction which even STACKS with similar effects. Blood Fury is also a huge power spike.
Agility is our most important stat by far, having a downstream effect on all of our throughput.
We will then want to reach the 3% Hit cap and at least the 3% Expertise soft-cap. We don't have to stress too much about Expertise since a lot of our damage is magical.
Then we will prioritize Mastery as a secondary stat. This gives us a flat damage increase to our spells - which is where a huge chunk of our damage comes from.
We will then want Haste whenever possible. This is a quality of life stat as Shaman.
Finally, we have Crit, which is our least important stat and should be avoided whenever possible.
