SV/MM Hunter
Hunters can either play a SV/MM Hybrid build which offers more control through Wyvern Sting, or a pure Marksmanship build which has additional utility through Silencing Shot. Both builds feature Aimed Shot, Scatter Shot, and powerful trap-based CC chains.
Strengths
- ✓Powerful CC chains with Scatter Shot, Freezing Trap, and Wyvern Sting
- ✓Aimed Shot provides a 50% healing reduction (Mortal Strike effect)
- ✓Viper Sting creates a secondary win condition through mana drain
- ✓Extended range with Hawk Eye talent lets you outrange most casters
- ✓Multiple trap types provide excellent kiting and control tools
- ✓Growl can eat Spell Reflection and Grounding Totem for trap setups
Weaknesses
- ✗Limited to specific compositions (primarily with Resto Druid or Disc Priest)
- ✗Deadzone mechanic requires careful positioning management
- ✗Relies heavily on landing traps to create kill windows
- ✗Vulnerable when caught in melee without cooldowns

The best Horde race for Hunter PvP. Stun resistance is game-changing against Rogues and Warriors, and Blood Fury provides a significant damage boost.
The best Alliance race for Hunter. Stoneform is one of the strongest racials in the game, countering Rogues and Shadow Priests.
Hit rating is your most important stat until you reach the 3% cap (needed to never miss with special attacks). After that, Resilience is crucial for surviving burst damage. Agility provides attack power, crit, and armor. Attack Power increases your damage directly.
