Restoration Druid

Restoration Druid

HealerMomentumControlHigh Mobility

Restoration Druid is widely considered one of the best healers in TBC PvP. While their toolkit is incredibly powerful with unmatched crowd control, instant HoT based healing, and high mobility, mastering Resto Druid requires lots of game sense and multitasking, making it a high skill floor, high skill ceiling spec.

Strengths

  • HoT-based healing lets you keep moving and avoid interrupts
  • Cyclone is one of the strongest CC abilities in the game - 6 second lockout, can't be healed, damaged, or deal damage
  • Multiple forms of crowd control (Cyclone, Bash, Entangling Roots, Hibernate, Maim, Pounce)
  • Shapeshifting removes roots and snares, provides mobility and survivability
  • One of the only healers with an interrupt

Weaknesses

  • Cannot dispel magic effects - only poison and curses
  • High skill ceiling with many tools to manage simultaneously
  • Lower direct damage compared to other healers

Best Race
Tauren
TaurenWar Stomp

The best race for Restoration Druid PvP. War Stomp is an incredible tool for CC chains and emergency peels.

Night Elf
Night ElfShadowmeld

A decent option but significantly weaker than Tauren for arena. Shadowmeld cannot be used in combat.

Stat Priority
3% Hit > Resilience > Healing Power > Spirit / Mp5

In TBC, stats are generally very balanced - having too much of any one stat is worse than a good mixture of all stats. Hit rating is essential for landing Cyclone and other crowd control. Resilience is your primary defensive stat, reducing critical strike damage and chance. Healing Power is simply how you gain throughput on your healing spells. MP5 (Mana per 5 seconds) and Spirit are both good for mana regeneration in specific contexts. Spirit is generally preferred as it scales with some talents.
