Subtlety Rogue
Ultimate PvP class with great damage, tons of control, and great mobility. Rogues have the ability to reset cooldowns with Preparation, making them one of the most feared melee in TBC arena.
Strengths
- ✓Incredible crowd control toolkit (Sap, Cheap Shot, Kidney Shot, Blind, Gouge)
- ✓Excellent damage output, especially in early seasons with low resilience
- ✓Strong defensive cooldowns (Evasion, Cloak of Shadows, Cheat Death, Vanish)
- ✓Shadowstep allows for incredible mobility and cross-CC plays
- ✓Preparation resets key cooldowns for extended pressure or survival
Weaknesses
- ✗Openers are crucial - losing the opener can lose the game
- ✗Vulnerable when cooldowns are down
- ✗Requires weapon swapping for optimal poison management
- ✗Falls off slightly in later seasons as resilience increases
Key Abilities
Best Arena Compositions
Best 2v2 Comps
Best 3v3 Comps
Becomes the best race in later seasons. Will of the Forsaken is devastating against Warlocks and Priests, and does not share a cooldown with your PvP trinket.
The best race early on. Perception dramatically increases stealth detection, which is invaluable since openers often decide games - especially in Rogue mirrors.
Unlike modern WoW, TBC really only has one stat you need to consider outside of gem choices - Hit Rating. You need 5% hit to not miss abilities. With the recommended gear sets, you will easily stay above the 5% threshold. While more than 5% helps with white hits and poison procs, it is not necessary. In the early seasons, Attack Power scales better than Agility, so prioritize Attack Power in gems. Resilience comes naturally on most PvP gear pieces, but Rogue is inherently an offensive spec that relies more on damage output than survivability.
