Best Frost Mage PvP Glyphs
The glyph system has changed quite a bit in Mists of Pandaria as opposed to its Cataclysm counterpart. The most noticeable change being the removal of Prime Glyphs, meaning players will be limited to 3 Major and 3 Minor Glyph slots.
Tome of the Clear Mind will be needed to swap out any glyph from its respective glyph slot. You’ll definitely want to hold on to some of those, since some glyphs may be swapped depending on a certain arena matchup.
Major Glyphs
These three major glyphs provided below are your primary glyphs within your major glyph slots. Some glyphs offer variability depending on the composition you plan to play as.
Glyph of Armors is our must-have glyph in all circumstances. This glyph grants us a massive defensive bulk increase on shields. Molten Armor now becomes a 16% damage reduction, and Mage Armor reduces magic debuff durations by 35%. Additionally this allows players to easily swap armors mid game.
Glyph of Polymorph is our first soft-locked major glyph, which removes all DoTs on targets once Polymorph is successfully casted on them.
Glyph of Deep Freeze as our second soft-locked glyph reduces the duration of Deep Freeze but removes its GCD. This allows you to seamlessly cross CC your opponents.
Additionally we have some situationally niche glyphs you may find useful in certain circumstances. These aren’t typically chosen as opposed to the ones already listed above, but can be super valuable if given the opportunity.
Glyph of Ice Block is quite the aggressive option into casters, as it causes Ice Block to grant 3 seconds of spell immunity once it ends or upon leaving it. This can also be snapshotted with Alter Time for a total duration of 6 seconds of spell immunity.
Glyph of Water Elemental is great against melee cleaves or DoT classes. This increases your pet survivability especially since most specs will easily swap over and attempt to delete it.
Glyph of Evocation is definitely recommended as double DPS 2v2, allowing you to recover with Evocation as it is now attached with a heal that is 60% of your total HP if fully channeled.
Minor Glyphs
As it currently stands, there aren’t any minor glyphs available for Mage that gives players a slight advantage in PvP combat. These are primarily cosmetic and can be selected to customize your character.
