Best Restoration Shaman PvP Glyphs
The glyph system has changed quite a bit in Mists of Pandaria as opposed to its Cataclysm counterpart. The most noticeable change being the removal of Prime Glyphs, meaning players will be limited to 3 Major and 3 Minor Glyph slots.
Tome of the Clear Mind will be needed to swap out any glyph from its respective glyph slot. You’ll definitely want to hold on to some of those, since some glyphs may be swapped depending on a certain arena matchup.
Major Glyphs
These three major glyphs provided below are your primary glyphs within your major glyph slots. Your only hard locked glyphs located here are Glyph of Totemic Vigor and Glyph of Ghost Wolf, with the rest being soft-locked and flexible according to your discretion.
Glyph of Totemic Vigor is a huge quality of life improvement to our totem’s HP, since most players will instantly try and snipe your totems down.
Glyph of Ghost Wolf dramatically reduces the duration of snares. This not only makes it easier to survive, but is generally good for repositioning.
Glyph of Hex reduces the duration of your Hex cooldown, allowing you to CC your opponents with it more frequently.
Additionally we have some situationally niche glyphs you may find useful in certain circumstances. These aren’t typically chosen as opposed to the ones already listed above, but can be super valuable if given the opportunity.
Glyph of Healing Stream is typically chosen if you’re up against Mages, Balance Druids, Elemental Shamans, or Survival Hunters, as it provides 10% damage reduction to Fire, Frost, and Nature damage.
Glyph of Cleansing Waters is best played against Affliction Warlocks, as you will benefit the most out of the its healing bonus once you use your defensive dispel.
Glyph of Purge is generally preferred against Restoration Druids in 2v2, and can even be effective in any bracket as long as your teammate also has an offensive dispel. This glyph will help you conserve globals and mana.
Glyph of Capacitor Totem is ideal when playing with Totemic Projection in order to easily land stun on enemy players.
Minor Glyphs
Out of all the Minor Glyphs available for Restoration Shaman, Totemic Encirclement is your only hard-locked option. The rest are purely cosmetic and do not provide any min-max benefits.
