This new talent system is dramatically different from our original Cataclysm talents. Now players are given way less options in terms of talent selection, and can even change their talents in the starting gate using Tome of the Clear Mind.

Hard-Locked Talents:
Subterfuge not only reacting as a miniature Shadow Dance, but is even better in MoP due to the fact that you are stealthed throughout its entire duration.
Marked for Death for those heavy hitting back to back finishers with Eviscerate.
Soft-Locked Talents & Alternatives:
Nerve Strike offers additional utility as a Rogue, temporarily reducing the amount of healing and damage done by your target after your stuns end on them.
Alternative: Combat Readiness is best against melee cleaves, as long as you are the enemy’s primary kill target. Otherwise you will receive zero value out of this talent.
Elusiveness enhances Feint by giving it an addition 30% damage reduction to all damage sources. Since Feint is spammable in MoP this is a no-brainer pickup.
Alternative: Cheat Death can be selected in very niche scenarios, especially against other Rogues in 3v3. This can be a promising pick in a situation where you’re playing RMP and are against Thug Cleave, making it easier to survive those bursty stun windows.
Burst of Speed makes going for re-stealths a lot easier, providing us enough mobility to run to the pillar in order to reset. Additionally, this will help us with uptime as it removes snares once used.
Alternative: Shadowstep is rightfully placed as an alternative pick, and is used best with a bursty composition. This ability makes swaps way less predictable.
Prey on the Weak applies a 10% damage bonus from all damage sources, making it a perfect pick if you are playing as a setup based composition.
Alternative: Paralytic Poison reacts as an additional RNG stun, which can be useful to kill other Rogues. With its Shiv component that roots targets, this can help peel as long as you aren’t playing with a Mage.
