Table of Contents
The War Within expands our arsenal of talent options, which include our new talent hero talent trees, Scalecommander and Flameshaper. As it currently stands, Scalecommander has higher representation but can potentially change over the course of the season with new changes to Flameshaper.
For now, let’s delve deeper into Scalecommander and understand how to best allocate your Hero talents.
Hero Talents: Scalecommander

For for preferred Devastation loadout, we have Scalecommander. The most exciting addition from this Hero build is the introduction of Mass Disintegrate, allowing us to channel Disintegrate on at most 3 different targets. Some of our hero talents featured here boost its effectiveness by making our padding potential way stronger than before.
Aside from our hallmark talent, let’s delve deeper into our talents that require a bit more understanding to maximize their effects.
- Bombardments marks targets affected by Mass Disintegrate, which incorporate some massive cleave damage once procced by you or your allies’ damaging abilities. You’ll be constantly extending this with Disintegrate on your primary kill target if you choose Extended Battle instead of Diverted Power.
- Maneuverability makes landing our Deep Breath stun way easier, as we can now steer our character while Deep Breath is active.

Evoker Class Talents
In the Evoker Class talent tree, most of your talent choices will be mandatory when advancing onto each tier. Some of most noteworthy mandatory talents are:
- Tip the Scales, mainly to fully empower your Fire Breath during your burst windows.
- Oppressing Roar to increase the duration your opponent is affected by Crowd Control by 50% while this debuff is active on any affected target.
- Rescue to make use of Twin Guardian as it provides you and the ally you gripped with a hefty shield, saving you during crucial moments.
There will then be a few points which can be moved around depending on the composition that you are facing.
For your flexible class talents, Enkindled can be more swapped around with other talents offered to us. This is dependent on your matchup and current composition played.
- Innate Magic for faster Essence regeneration.
- Regenerative Magic for a bit more survivability.
- Attuned to the Dream to increase your own healing while also increasing the amount of healing you take.
- Source of Magic and Potent Mana to buff our healers slightly, mainly for mana regeneration, and is best in rated 3v3 arena.
Devastation Spec Talents
For our spec talents, most of these will be mandatory as you advance onto each tier. Some of the most noteworthy talents are:
- Animosity makes us want to save our Empower spells until we use Dragonrage in order to extend its effects up to 20 seconds.
- Burnout, which synergizes with Ruby Essence Burst to obtain the most uptime on Disintegrate, while buffing its damage.
- Iridescence makes our Eternity Surge burst windows way more powerful, as our blue spells become 20% stronger for 10 seconds. This makes our Disintegrates way stronger when we want to deliver massive single target burst.
- Azure Celerity provides us more Scintillation procs thanks to Disintegrate‘s additional tick each channel.
Now, as for our flexible talents, we advise removing Arcane Vigor for Imminent Destruction, depending on what composition you’re playing as.
- Arcane Vigor provides you with Essence Burst after using Shattering Star for its damage amplifier.
- Imminent Destruction is more preferred if you want your Deep Breath windows to be stronger, as your Disintegrate costs 1 Essence less and deals 10% more damage for 12 seconds after landing.
Devastation Evoker PvP Talents
As for our default loadout, although there tends to be some slight variation in what people choose to play, as it currently stands we recommend running Unburdened Flight, Obsidian Mettle, and Nullifying Shroud as your default PvP talent loadout.
- Unburdened Flight makes your mobility a lot stronger, as you are now immune to snare effects when Hover is active.
- Obsidian Mettle enhances your Obsidian Scales with an Aura Mastery effect attached to it, providing you with an immunity to interrupts, silences, and pushback effects while active.
- Time Stop freezes the affected target as well as any effects that were applied to that target. This immunes all damage and healing while active, and is great against enemy burst windows where you need an extra defensive cooldown to protect you or your ally from death. This is best used on yourself when your healer is in Crowd Control, buying you enough time for your healer to escape the CC chain and keep you healthy.
Finally, you can swap to/from Time Stop or Obsidian Mettle depending on the matchup, including some of these optional talents:
- Scouring Flame is great against Restoration Druids, Discipline Priests, or any class that relies on dispellable magic effects, as you can purge them off with Fire Breath depending on your Fire Breath‘s empower level.
- Divide and Conquer summons a wall of fire that prevents Line of Sight after using Deep Breath. This pick is more niche as you may want to select this if you play the notorious Draco Cleave (Frost Death Knight, Devastation Evoker, Mistweaver Monk).
