Alliance

Human

Human remains to be the most versatile option on Alliance and the best race for Shadow Priest. This opens up the option to drop Medallion in favor of playing with two offensive trinkets, or even an offensive + defensive combination, while having Will to Survive to get out of stuns.

Horde

Undead

Undead is a great option as it adds a second trinket to your cooldown rotation with Will of the Forsaken. Due to priest’s utility with Void Shift and Leap of Faith it can save the game in critical moments but does not have the same offensive value as Human since Will of the Forsaken cannot replace a trinket in most cases.
