What’s New for Restoration Druids in The War Within?
As we enter into 11.2, every spec is bound to receive some changes, and with Restoration Druid there is no exception. The most notable change is our new tier set, which only makes Wildstalker just as strong as it was in 11.1. You’ll be constantly proccing Symbiotic Blooms from your new 2 piece tier set, especially after using Regrowth combined with Clearcasting.
Another massive overhaul to Resto Druid was in 11.1, which added a completely new version of Incarnation called Ancient of Lore, located in our PvP talents. As long as there isn’t any Ice Walls thrown in your way, your team becomes almost unkillable while active, as you can’t be Crowd Controlled. However the tradeoff of playing this talent is the lack of movement speed your character possesses.
Now as for the general changes surrounding Restoration Druid in The War Within, let’s focus our attention to the spec talent tree as we have some talent nodes that have been changed.
One of the biggest takeaways from our Druid toolkit is the removal of Adaptive Swarm, and its node is now replaced with Call of the Elder Druid, originally as one of our PvP talent options. The foundations of Restoration Druid continue to manifest within our talent tree, especially from our talents, Reforestation, Grove Guardians, and Ancient of Lore, to maximize our healing. We also have Dream of Cenarius, acting as a ‘fistweaving’ talent while Heart of the Wild is active.
Restoration Druids now receive two new Hero talent trees. Our first tree, Wildstalker, is currently your suggested default pick. This build enables more of an aggressive playstyle for Resto Druid, and with Forest Guardian you can push in for Maim in a way more forgiving way than how it used to be for previous iterations of Restoration.
Keeper of the Grove, on the other hand, is mainly comprised of buffing the effectiveness of our healing from Grove Guardians. The primary talents offered by this tree are Harmony of the Grove and Dream Surge to counteract massive pressure, while also receiving Treants of the Moon in the process to enhance our padding damage with Moonfire.
Overall, the outlook on this spec seems to be considered as an extremely powerful healer, with Grove Guardians being your primary source of delivering powerful healing on allies when needed. You’ll also receive more uptime on both your Grove Guardians and Ancient of Lore as opposed to previously in Dragonflight, making this spec feel way more fluid than before.
