What’s New for Discipline Priests in The War Within?
As we enter onward into the new expansion, a lot of changes have undergone our way, and Priests are no exception to this. As of 11.2, most of our talents remain unchanged from the drastic revamp in 11.1. These being the removal of Rapture as well as the introduction of Evangelism, which reacts almost as an AoE Lay on Hands to players affected by Atonement.
Starting with the bread and butter of The War Within, we have our Hero talents, giving us two completely new trees inside of our talent pane that give us a more exciting playstyle. For Discipline Priests, we receive two we can choose from; Oracle and Voidweaver.
Oracle is our recommend pick as it strengthens our healing spells with more flavorful utility, which makes it less likely for us to fall behind on our momentum. Voidweaver, on the other hand, is considered more exclusive in 2v2 and RBG settings where you want to pump the damage charts and create massive pressure.
Overall, Discipline Priest continues to fulfill its role as a tempo-based healer, meaning that you’ll want to constantly keep your teammates healthy by constantly throwing out huge Power Word: Shields from Weal and Woe, while also weaving in Pain Suppression, Evangelism, and Barrier so you can occasionally dish in more damage and overwhelm the opposing team. From what we receive now in our Hero talent pane, this makes our healing a bit easier to manage, making our rotation feel more fluid and impactful in the arena.
