What’s New for Holy Paladins in The War Within?
Holy Paladin in 11.2 have experienced some profound changes regarding their fundamental rotation and mobility, especially after losing out on Hallowed Ground which was one of our strongest PvP talents.
The most important being Holy Shock now having a base 10% chance on proccing Light of Infusion instead of it being reliant on Holy Shock crits. This makes us less inclined to select gear with Critical Strike, and with Flash of Light now becoming instant cast with Light of Infusion we’ll be using this quite often to benefit off talents such as Tower of Radiance and Boundless Salvation.
Even after the loss of Blessed Hands and now Hallowed Ground, Paladin still remains quite competitive. We continue to make use of talents such as Rising Sunlight, acting identical to our original Daybreak cooldown, and is tied to Divine Toll and Avenging Wrath. This gives Holy Paladins more variability on when we want to heal with Holy Shock, and increases the amount of healing we provide drastically, making our reliable burst healing and consistent throughput quite strong.
The most dramatic change to our toolkit revolves around the main focal point of The War Within, Hero talents, which include Herald of the Sun and Lightsmith for Holy Paladins.
Overall, Holy Paladin seems to be a strong healer in the competitive scene, as their abundance of instant cast healing makes their team way less susceptible to death, especially if they rotate their defensive trades as efficiently as they can.
