Table of Contents

In this section, we will cover the main features of Devastation Evokers, what they bring to the table and how they compare to what we’ve seen from other classes in the past. We will go deeper into their talents a little later. For now, let’s focus on the overall picture of the spec.

Introduction to Devastation Evokers

Evoker class as a whole introduces two new mechanics. The first one is a resource system called Essence, which is similar to DK runes, and is required to use certain spells.

The second one is the empower mechanic, which impacts a few abilities. Empowered spells change their effects or strength depending on how long you cast them.

Evokers are also quite mobile thanks to a core ability called Hover, which allows them to cast while moving. They also have a few spells that add to it, such as Rescue, which lets them to change the position of their partners.

Overall, Devastation Evoker mechanics are very unique. Despite having an initial learning curve, their playstyle should eventually make sense for any experienced wizard player.

Devastation Evoker Playstyle in Dragonflight

The playstyle of Devastation Evoker will make a lot of sense to those familiar with the Arcane Dream. Evokers care about one thing: oneshotting their opponent. This might seem like a gimmick, but there is a lot of depth to setting it up. In order to oneshot effectively, they need to do a bit of healing due to Scarlet Adaptation. Outside of your oneshots, you are still rewarded for what we’re calling the “Blue Sequence” of spells. We will go deeper into it in our damage courses.

Overall, Devastation Evoker plays the roles of multiple casters at the same time. It has the explosiveness of a Destro Warlock combined with the utility of a Shadow Priest and mobility of an Arcane Mage. If you are a fan of casters, you will like this playstyle.

When it comes to Race, only Dracthyr can be Evokers, so there isn’t much to say here. But the racials in Tail Swipe and Wing Buffet seem quite useful, especially in PvP.
