In this section, we will cover the biggest changes to the design of Frost Mage in Dragonflight and some of their playstyle implications. Obviously, the main driving force for all adjustments this expansion comes from talents, and we will dive deeper into them a bit later. For now, let’s focus on the bigger picture.

What’s New for Frost Mage in Dragonflight?

Frost Mages benefitted a lot from the talent tree redesign, since it opened up access to abilities like Dragon’s Breath and Greater Invisibility.

Frost Mage Playstyle in Dragonflight

In Shadowlands, as Frost was known for its heavy hitting Frostbolts, which came to define it as a true wizard throughout the expansion. In Dragonflight, a lot of its damage hinges on Ice Lance. This entails a playstyle built less around Frostbolt, and more around consistent instant cast damage to set up big one shots. Frost is more passive where the goal is to doing as much damage as possible while avoiding as much damage as possible.
