Table of Contents

In this section, we will cover the main features of Preservation Evokers, what they bring to the table and how they compare to what we’ve seen from other classes in the past. We will go deeper into their talents a little later. For now, let’s focus on the overall picture of the spec.

Introduction to Preservation Evokers

Evoker class as a whole introduces two new mechanics. The first one is a resource system called Essence, which is similar to DK runes, and is required to use certain spells.

The second one is the empower mechanic, which impacts a few abilities. Empowered spells change their effects or strength depending on how long you cast them.

Evokers are also quite mobile thanks to a core ability called Hover, which allows them to cast non-empowered spells while moving. They also have a few spells that add to it, such as Rescue, which lets them to change the position of their partners.

Overall, Evoker mechanics are very unique. Despite having an initial learning curve, their playstyle should eventually make sense for any experienced healer.

Preservation Evoker Playstyle in Dragonflight

A lot of Preservation Evoker’s playstyle hinges on an ability called Echo. It can be applied to multiple targets and duplicates other heals when pressed.

Most of Evoker’s heals are gated behind cooldowns or resource requirements. It might make them seem bad until you realize how many cooldowns they actually have. Their wide array of defensives is meant to supplement their lack of healing throughput outside of their normal healing rotation. This means that in order to get better at Preservation Evoker in PvP, you need to be able to recognize how and when to trade individual cooldowns, which is something we cover in our burst healing guide.

In season 2 of Dragonflight Preservation Evoker has one of the highest healing outputs compared to other healers in the meta. Preservation Evokers have good longevity and can heal through dampening. The limiting factor is not their output but rather their mana bar.

When it comes to Race, only Dracthyr can be Evokers, so there isn’t much to say here. But the racials in Tail Swipe and Wing Buffet seem quite useful, especially in PvP.
