Retribution Paladin Stat Priority

Versatility > Mastery > Haste > Critical Strike

Versatility will be our most important stat. You want to focus on getting as much of it as you can, up to at least 30%. This will happen automatically through PvP gearing, as most of the items you will end up using will have Versatility on them.

After that, you have a bit more freedom. Both Haste and Mastery are good options. Haste provides more of a static DPS increase by lowering the cooldown of your Holy Power generators, global cooldown and auto attacks. Mastery, however, works towards increasing your burst damage through a raw Holy damage increase.

While we do generally recommend prioritizing Mastery over Haste, you should be looking for almost an equal mix of mastery and haste gear, something like 60-40 or 70-30 in favor of mastery.

And this leaves Critical Strike as your least favored stat.

Recommended Tier and Embellishments

Tier pieces:
Legs: Heartfire Sentinel’s Faulds
Shoulders: Heartfire Sentinel’s Steelwings
Gloves: Heartfire Sentinel’s Protectors
Helmet: Heartfire Sentinel’s Forgehelm

Embellishments:
Item 1: Infurious Warboots of Impunity
Item 2: Primal Molten Pauldrons with Verdant Conduit, Versatility, and Mastery

Best Retribution Paladin Trinkets

Human:
Gladiator’s Badge of Ferocity
Insignia of Alacrity

Non-Human:
Gladiator’s Medallion
Gladiator’s Badge of Ferocity

When it comes to trinkets, there are a few viable options. The defensive option will be the Gladiator’s Emblem, which is great for having an extra defensive cooldown to press. It also buffs the absorb effect of your Shield of Vengeance. This should be used when you are likely to be the kill target.

The offensive option is the Gladiator’s Badge of Ferocity. This is an excellent choice for pairing with your Final Reckoning > Divine Toll combo.

We also have an option of Insignia of Alacrity, which provides a relatively high uptime Strength proc along with some passive haste. But between the two, we recommend the Badge as it allows you to consistently buff the damage of your 1-minute burst window.

Humans have the option to drop Medallion in favor of using both Badge and Insignia. This is due to Human Paladin having numerous ways to break out of CC with bubble, Blessing of Protection, and Will to Survive. Medallion can still be a solid pick into teams where you may need to use trinket paired with Blessing of Sanctuary such as into double caster.

Best Retribution Paladin Gems

Zen Malygite + Resplendent Illimited Diamond

As Versatility is your best secondary stat, you will want to both gem and enchant it wherever possible. You will be using Tiered Medallion Setting to get an additional gem slot in your Neck. You will fill these slots with the highest quality Strength + Versatility gem that you can get up to Resplendent Illimited Diamond and then two Zen Malygite.
